Conlang Stuff

(Originally posted at Silver Does Stuff)

I’ve uploaded the newest version of the Nyjichun wikis! There is now one for the grammar and one for the lexicon (aka, all the words). They are SO a work in progress and are full of notes to myself and half-finished stuff.

In addition to that, I recently made a twine game for a jam on itch.io. I redid my conlang Tynthna. It now has actual IPA sounds and a few more words than it did before. And lots of sound recordings! Which may or may not be accurately said! (when in doubt, the orthography is canon). You can play it in your browser on itch.io.

That makes three conlangs that I’m sort of currently working on: Nyjichun, Tynthna, and Ie. I’ve also done a tiny bit in Ylis (the language of the Thunderian capital) lately, because I needed to be able to say Thunderian for on A Heroic Moment without actually referencing Thundercats. (It’s Lunderka for singular and Lunderkusa for plural – and that’s literally the only words I have for it right now, because the old version was from before I knew what IPA was).

So, as previously noted, I use the Dvorak keyboard layout. Until just recently, I had the muscle memory only on my phone and laptop. But now... Now I have it on my standard keyboard and the bluetooth keyboard for my phone (see pic below - the letters in blue are Dvorak and the missing stickers are the keys that are the same on Qwerty and Dvorak.)

Which means if I go to a job that doesn't let me change the keyboard layout, I've screwed myself. At my last job I was ok, because I only had the muscle memory on a laptop keyboard and a standard keyboard still had the Qwerty memory.

Ah, well.

I’m working on translating something into Nyjichun that thedankabyss on tumblr asked for, when I discovered that something I was going to do with the pronouns in Ie, I had also done with Nyjichun. I, uh, may want to change that. Actually a couple things…

(I did inclusive vs exclusive we as well, but the main one I noticed is having multiple sets of pronouns each person – so you could, for example, refer to multiple men in a conversation without confusion or repeatedly using their names. Lojban apparently has it too, with the ko’a system – to no one’s who knows anything about Lojban surprise. In Nyjichun, it’s only for 3rd person, but in Ie I was going to do it for 2nd too. Since I’m doing other cool things with Ie’s pronoun system, I’ll just remove that…)

I think it’s a cool thing that would be useful, but I don’t need to do it in multiple conlangs.
