2012 and 2013

Mirrored from Shenanigans - Curiously Lydean.

This year I wrote 135,000 words of fiction on six stories. I made a fool of myself here by posting a rough draft. I survived that with my self-esteem mostly intact. I won NaNoWriMo and got halfway through Camp NaNoWriMo. I’ve discovered booze I like and started a hell of a liquor cabinet. I tried to get readers here and mostly failed (blog catalogs don’t seem to work, triberr helps only a little). I posted here 56 times, on average twice a week, mostly.

On a more personal level, I moved into my own place, finally getting my stuff out of storage after about three years (although I still have quite a bit still packed because there’s no place to put it, or in a severely disorganized state). I’ve had the same boyfriend since approximately March. I’ve made several new friends and not been a complete hermit. I’m starting my third year working at the same place, where they seem to like me quite a lot and I have lots of free time (or I could do this on my breaks if I would actually remember to take them).

I’ve accomplished less than I would have liked to and more than I thought I would. I spent way too much monkey-clicking around the internet and napping.

So, next year, let’s try to do better! I have a plan (that I probably won’t stick to)!

Read the rest of this entry »

comments

30 Characters Challenge Update / Future Posts

Mirrored from Shenanigans - Curiously Lydean.

I’ll be honest. I’m not going to finish 30. And I really want to get a lot more done on NaNoWriMo. I haven’t actually worked on the projects I meant to for it, so that’s what I’m going to focus.

I have a plan for all through next to get a lot more writing and art done. We’ll see how well that works out (I’ll post details closer to the end of the year.)

Anyway, for the 30 Characters Challenge, I’m going to finish the four I have drawn. I’ll try to post aside from that but between writing and the holidays, don’t count on it.

(I have 24 other images started that I wasn’t going to count for the challenge because I started them at various points in the last year… or two… Most of them are Poser renders, but I’m trying to get away from tracing from that)

comments

Future posts – Gimme your opinions

Mirrored from Shenanigans - Curiously Lydean.

Hey folks, how are you enjoying the blog?

I have a few more posts already lined up, but I have a couple of things I’d like to blog about that are going to take some prep. These include:

- Kimono stuff. Yeah, I collect and wear kimono, although I haven’t actually worn one in months. I keep meaning to wear them more often, but it takes a lot of time and energy.

This would include why I collect them (besides ‘they’re pretty and they make me feel pretty’), probably some highlights of my collection, and a pretty good how-to I made about how to tie an obi.

- Update on my place, including a bunch of cool vintage stuff I found quite a while ago that I just haven’t gotten the pictures up.

- Constructed languages. This probably will interest no one (unless I suddenly start getting a ton of links from one of the conlang boards), but I have fun with it. I have one language I’m working on lately, although I haven’t really done anything with it in a while. I’d also talk about why I do it, some of my old, really bad, languages, and I don’t know what else.

I could also do a couple of book reviews of Mark Rosenfelder’s The Language Construction Kit, Advanced Language Construction, and The Planet Construction Kit from the point of view of a very casual amateur.

- Some comic commentaries done in the style of Mystery Science Theater. I have a few on my livejournal but I’d like to redo them, preferably with better writing. And rescanning some of the comics. Besides Thundercats comics (which are most of the ones that are already done, including some that aren’t up), there are some Batman comics I’d like to do. Part of the trouble with this is that I’d like to do more of the UK Thundercat comics, which are bigger, and thus won’t fit on my tiny scanner. And I really don’t want to stitch the pages together.

- Stuff from my old Thundercats site. Besides the comic stuff, I had a bunch of episodes nitpicked (but not nearly as many as I’d like). But unless I want to grab images from the DVDs, the screengrabs aren’t that great, as they’re from VHS tapes. I could also put up some of the better fanfic I wrote, which isn’t much. I think like two very short stories. There are much more prolific Thundercats fans out there, I’m afraid.

- Comic commentary of Captain Britain. Yeah, I don’t just read Batman.

- Giant pic dump of icons I’ve made from 2000AD stories. Technically it would be a repost of stuff from the livejournal.

Anyway, what would you all like to see? Some of the stuff above? More mid-century and vintage stuff? More Cocktails of the Night?

(I’ll be getting another Ben-Day Spots up tomorrow as well).

comments
